Dedicated to the people, geography, safety and environment of Sleepy Hollow in Marin County, California

Our primary activity is to fund and manage renovation of our Community Center and operate it so that residents can gather together in a sparkling new space, enjoy special occasions and relax on a daily basis, and as home for The Sleepy Hollow Homes Association, Sea Lions Swim Team, and Sleepy Hollow Fire Protection District (SHFPD) and its initiatives that make us all safer.

We opened Sleepy Hollow Community Center July 4th 2021 and have since completed the renovation of the locker rooms, added an outdoor shower, built the emergency supplies storage building for use by the SHFPD and with space for a small site office, added all new play areas for children ages 2-5 and 5 - 12, and outdoor fireplace with seating area. At December 31, 2024, we officially concluded the Renovation Capital Campaign complete.

In 2025 we began a long term effort to fund new immediate needs, foremost the repairs and upgrades for the Sleepy Hollow Community Pool. and to build reserves for unusually large repair or maintenance costs, significant expenses of unknown timing such as creek bank stabilization, and the financial flexibility to refinance outstanding debt at a favorable time.

Family Fun Festival, October 19, 2025, attracted almost 100 families for fun giving to enable some pool repairs and improvements this winter. In all, total event receipts and related donations less expenses netted $35,000 available for pool repairs will be published here. Fundraising for the pool, with an eye to resurfacing the courtyard when pool needs are met, will continue this year and in 2026 for a total estimated need of $194,000.

Current Fund Drive to Help Sleepy Hollow Community Pool

If the Sleepy Hollow Community Center is the jewel in Sleepy Hollow, the Community Pool is the jewel of the Community Center for hundreds of families, whether residents, Friends of Sleepy Hollow, or Seal Lions Swim Team families, the Sleepy Hollow Community Pool has been the basis of lifelong friendships and lasting memories since residents first dug a big hole in the ground at 1317 Butterfield Road. Since then the pool has been completely relocated with then new locker rooms in 2005 Locker rooms were redone in 2022, adding an outdoor shower. The pool and now needs our serious TLC. Re-plastering, retiling, new sand filtration system, improved chlorination system for the wading pool, and more.

Other Needs and Goals

We hope to complete pool repairs in winter 2026-27 and continue fundraising for other needed improvements to the Sleepy Hollow Community Center. Fundraising to care for and improve as needed the entire Community Center is an ongoing mission for the Charitable Foundation. The focus on our Community Pool will continue, and as that need is met, will address other needs. High priorities are the resurfacing of the courtyard, repaving of the drive through, and improvement of the off street parking along Butterfield to coordinate with the planned crosswalk at Irving Drive. Other needs include readiness to improve creek bank stabilization, improved fencing, entry portal with site identity signage, and building a rainy day fund (a cash reserve to enable payment for unusually large repairs or replacements needed.) The Charitable Foundation regularly reviews needs with the Sleepy Hollow Homes Association to set fund raising priorities.

In 2026, help support the needs through casual events in winter and early spring and the return of the Gala in the Fall. The Foundation will also collaborate with the Sea Lions Swim Team and the Sleepy Hollow Homes Association in fundraising efforts.
